Very nice, they are fun and cheap to shoot...did I mention cheap?
I put the Williams peep sights on mine, and I'm happy with them.
I like it compact and since it is a only 100 yard rifle, they work fine.
These sights increase your sight radius, the rear screws on the reciever.

Any 4x32 would work on that gun. People go crazy on optics, but for a 22 I'd spend around $40.

Is that an odd aftermarket foreend on the 870 or is that not an 870? It looks like a semi-auto...not a pump.

Sure a 4x32 WOULD work, but I much prefer a 3-9x40 on my 10/22 I have had both on mine. I use a Silver Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40. Good optics without breaking the bank.

I don't have any advice that hasn't already been given. Just wanted to say Nice Rifle. I have several 10/22's ya can't beat them for either plinking or target shooting. They can be made to be tack drivers. Great rifle, enjoy. And remember that little .22 in a SHTF scenario will get you a battle rifle and a few hundred rounds of ammo. Aim between the helmet and vest.

Re: Pics of the new Ruger 10-22

Mines scoped with a Nikon.
Love it almost as much a my Pop's old Remington bolt action.
The best part is that it is a hell of a lot cheaper to train with .22 than .223.

Good luck with it.

Yes, extra magazines for your 10/22

If something happens to your magazine your gun will be nothing but a club without extra mags.

Like this or they make larger ones too.

I just ordered the exact same 22 from walmart. Stainless barrel, synthetic stock. Just have to wait for them to ship it to my store. It's my first Ruger 10/22.

What do you guys think about the Butler Creek mags? Some swear by the polimer vs steel - anyone with real experience with either of these?

Also, anyone see a problem with keeping the mags loaded at all times. Long term affects on the loaded mags?

thanks. do you keep them loaded? someone told me once this would damage the mags but I personally don't want to sit and load multiple mags if time is an issue. I also don't want to damage them since they are getting more expensive.

I have both Butler Creek magazines and think the Steel Lips are the better of the two.

I would like to put a strap on the 10/22 but it looks like I would have to drill a hole in the synthetic stock. Anyone added a strap to their ruger?

Nope, I don't keep them loaded. My .22s are the only guns I don't keep loaded. I would agree with Doge, CCI makes good stuff. I also shoot the cheap Remington "Golden Bullet" 36gr HP loads and they run through just fine.

As for the strap? Mine was already set up for a sling. You could drill a hole or have it drilled or grab a different stock.

Add a buffer, a extended mag release and mod the bolt release so it works one handed

Those are good mods. Here's all you need to know about Butler Creeks...

Re: Pics of the new Ruger 10-22

I've never had a scope on a .22 before. That Nikon looks good though. I think I will probably get it. I'm used to lever action .22 rifles, and never added scopes on any of those.
I still need to get another scope for my Ruger M77 30-06. Had a Weaver on it but it died, the dial on it stopped turning so I couldn't adjust the power past 4.
Weaver makes good scopes but this time i'm going to get a Leupold VX-III 3-9x40.

Re: Pics of the new Ruger 10-22

I have a 10/22 and several of the Ruger mags and the Butler Creek mags. I like the 25 round hot lips best. I hate having to stop and switch out mags on the 10 round ones. After some time, I only use CCI mini mag hollow point in this rifle. Very consistent.

Have a $40.00 scope on it. Not much recoil and it doesn't have a long range so I went with the cheapo Academy special and it works great.

Very fun rifle to shoot. I need to start making a dent in our local squirrel population....

I have the same rifle. Just won an auction on Gunbroker for an aftermarket underfolder stock for the 10/22. My first purchase on Gunbroker. Hope all goes well. Here is the photo of the stock. Will post again after I get it and put it all together:

Use the Steel lip Mags--I had the plastic and couldn't get it to cycle more than two or three.

I threw it away.
